Viel wichtiger ist da für mich der Eindruck, daß Ihr Buch wirklich hervorragend fundiert geschrieben wurde. Vor allem was die einleitenden Kapitel betrifft, die Kulturanleitungen und auch die ausführlichen Hinweise auf Schädlinge und ähnliches kenne ich keine Publikation, die besser wäre. Alles in allem ein wunderbares Buch, das man dem Liebhaber nur empfehlen kann. Herzlichen Glückwunsch!

I say hooray for Frank Supplie! While most cactus collectors rarely give Rhipsalis or Lepismium a second thought, Supplie has put together a flattering 144 page treatment of the two genera. This book is bilingual and each page is split into two colums with German on the left and English on the right. He starts of with a history of discovery then discusses general distribution of the two genera. Next, he includes a Q&A style interview with a large Rhipsalis grower from the Netherlands, giving the reader a unique look into another grower's experience. Next is a fair discussion on cultivation specific to these epiphytic cacti followed by propagation infomation. Supplie then includes an exhaustive section on "Diseases and Plagues" that should prepare the reader for pretty much any problem that might come thier way. After all this information, Supplie then describes the species in each genera, starting with Lepismium followed by Rhipsalis. He includes a description and comments for each species. Illustrations are mostly grouped together seperately from the text with some included elsewhere. All in all, this book is one of the few resources available for those who want information on these often overlooked genera.

This is the best book Frank has written, I love it! This is a MUST HAVE BOOK for anyone that like to collect species!!!

habe das handsignierte Lepismium/Rhipsalis -Buch mit großem Interesse gelesen ! Ich bin zwar kein Experte dieser Pflanzengruppe ,aber mit den brillanten Fotos dieser Ausgabe,sehr gut fokussiert ,konnte ich mühelos die Pflanzen in meiner Sammlung identifizieren und bestimmen ! Ein scharfes Detailfoto hat meiner Meinung nach eine genauere Aussagekraft ,als jeder ellenlange Text der oft auch zweideutig sein kann .In solchen Texten sollte man sich auf Bemaßung, Zeitdaten und Fundortbeschreibung usw. beschränken .Sehr interessant und als Ergänzung ,auch für die voraus veröffentlichten Bücher ,ist das Kapitel "Krankheiten und Plagen ! Allgemeinverständlich ,ohne Fach-Chinesisch ,kurz und bündig wird die Thematik in diesem Kapitel auf den Punkt gebracht ! Nomenklatur war immer schon ein Streitthema im Kakteenreich ,wahrscheinlich deswegen hält sich der Autor dieses Buches an fährende ,namhafte Wissenschaftler . Die Kurze Einführung über Wissenschaft ,bekannte Botaniker und Herbarien, bringt einen überblick über die Thematik "Lepismium und Rhipsalis"und rundet dieses gelungene Buch ab ! Wenige Schreibfehler und etwas holländischer Akzent im deutschen Text macht dieses Buch aber nicht weniger attraktiv ,es ist eben die persönliche Handschrift des Autors ,der dieses Buch schließlich in zwei Fremdsprachen verfaßt !

Vielleicht können wir uns demnächst auf Epiphyllum 3 freuen ?

I bought, and have been reading and enjoying your Rhipsalis & Lepismium book for a little while now. I wanted to get it because I had a few cuttings of unknown species of Rhips/Lepismiums and I wanted to try using your book to identify them. There are two yet I have not identified, the cuttings are rather small, so I assume that when they grow to be larger plants it will be easier to identify them - the person that gave them to me did not know what they were either. There are some very nice habitat pictures in your book, in particular I love the L. monacantha growing on the tree in Argentina. Another thing I enjoyed was learning that there are two Lepismium houlletiana out there - f. regnellii and f. houlletia. Very interesting. Anyway, I wanted to congratulate you on producing a very nice book that I am happy to own and to be able to refer to now and in the future.
